Dopo la laurea
The main employment outlets envisaged are in the following fields:
- diagnostics: through the management of molecular analysis and biomedical technologies applied to the medical and medical-veterinary, medical-legal, toxicology and reproductive-endocrinological fields (including transgenic animals, molecular probes, cellular systems, bio-artificial fabrics and cellular systems that produce biologically active molecules and other advanced bio-health techniques),
- bioengineering: with particular reference to the use of biomaterials or engineered organs and fabrics
- experimentation in the biomedical and animal field: with particular reference to the use of in vivo and in vitro models to understand the pathogenesis of human and animal illnesses
- therapeutic: with particular reference to the development and experimentation of innovative pharmacological products (including gene therapy and cellular therapy) to be applied to human and animal pathologies
- biotechnology of reproduction
- production and design in relation to patents in the health field
Graduates will be able to manage biotechnological and pharmacological laboratories and, at a management and administrative level, coordinate development and monitoring programmes of biotechnologies applied in a human and animal field with particular reference to the development of pharmacological products and vaccines keeping in mind ethical, technical, legal and environmental implications.
Graduates of the Master’s in Medical-Pharmaceutical Biotechnology
Who
Graduates will work in medical and medical-veterinarian, medical-legal, toxicological and reproductive-endocrinological fields; as well as bioengineering with particular reference to the use of biomaterials or engineered organs and tissues; biohealth, with particular reference to the use of in vivo and in vitro models for understanding pathogenesis of human and animal illnesses; pharmacological fields with particular reference to the development and experimentation of innovative pharmacological products (including cellular genetic therapy) and design in relation to patents in the health field.
What
In Liguria, the biotechnology industry, with particular reference to the medical-pharmaceutical sector, is not well-developed with qualified research centres. The Regional administration and the Industrial Association are taking the initiative to promote the birth of new businesses that are in part academic and small and medium business spin-offs. In this perspective, training qualified personnel to operate in these new companies is not only important but necessary.
Where
In Liguria there are important research centers strongly committed to biotechnology research in general, and medical pharmaceutical biotechnology in particular. Among these are: Istituto Italiano di Tecnologie (IIT), IRCCS AOU San Martino - IST Istituto Nazionale per la Ricerca sul Cancro and Istituto Giannina Gaslini. Overall hundreds of researchers operate in these centers. Several graduates from the old degree system have found work in these centers and therefore these centers also represent a further possibility of work for new, future graduates.
