Provide a comprehensive discussion of the fundamentals of basic and applied electrochemistry; techniques of corrosion protection and corrosion control for those who must confront, without advocating any of intensive professional courses, with an initial approach to the diagnosis and discussion of the problems of degradation of metallic materials in contact with the external environment.
Knowledge and understanding of fundamentals of electrochemistry. Knowledge of corrosion mechanisms, methods of control and prevention.
Traditional lectures
Basic electrochemistry: fundamentals Applied electrochemistry: primary batteries (alkaline battery, Li battery, Zn-air battery…) secondary batteries (Lead-acid battery, Ni-MH battery, Li rechargeable battery, Na-S battery…) Fuel Cells fundaments and applications Principles of electrodeposition
Fundamental mechanisms of corrosion, methods of control and prevention • Correlation between morphology and corrosion phenomena • Mechanism of chemical and electrochemical reactions involved in corrosion nucleation • Electrodeposition, main types of cells, characteristics and applications • Inhibition and control of corrosion |
