OVERVIEW

The subject of the module is the evaluation as a tool to support complex decision-making processes and urban and territorial transformations. The module will develop the theme of the feasibility of urban transformation both from the economic, social and environmental point of view, with particular reference to a municipal planning process.

Supplies the theoretical and operational tools for assessing the feasibility of urban and territorial transformation interventions.

AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES

The main objective of the module is to provide students with the theoretical and operational tools for assessing the feasibility of interventions at different scales, from building to urban and territorial.

The student will learn what types of value search and which evaluation techniques apply for the resolution of evaluation questions.

TEACHING METHODS

The module's didactic path is developed on three levels:

- frontal lessons in the classroom;
- thematic insights through the consultation of materials available online (by @ulaweb) by the teacher;
- classroom exercises.

SYLLABUS/CONTENT

The module is divided into two parts:

The first part deals with - from a theoretical point of view - the evaluation techniques (monetary and non-monetary) with particular reference to the project at the urban and territorial level.

In particular, the following evaluation techniques will be considered.

- SWOT analysis
- Cost benefit analysis
- Cost-revenue analysis.

In the second part of the module will be developed a feasibility assessment of the urban design developed by students within the course. The purpose of the evaluation will be defined in terms of the characteristics of the various design proposals developed by the students.

The evaluation application will be carried out for groups of students.
