The course provides the basic concepts of the circuit theory and the techniques for the solution of electric circuits in direct and alternate current.
Circuit theory in direct and alternate current, electric characteristics of elementary components, impedances and admittances, diodes, transistors and amplifiers; analysis of simple electric and electronic circuits, measurements of electric quantities. Component dimensioning in an electric or electronic circuit.
The course comprises theoretical lessons and practice in laboratory (about 12 hours in laboratory for a total of 60 hours).
Lumped parameters circuits. Validity limits. Voltage, current. N-poles. Bipoles, tripoles and particular two-ports.
Lumped parameters network analysis. Kirchhoff laws. Analysis techniques. Superposition principle, mesh currents, node potentials. Thevenin and Norton theorems. Numerical examples.
Networks in sinusoidal regime. Alternate current. Symbolic method. Impedances and admittances. Tellegen theorem. Electric work, energy and power. Active, reactive and apparent power. Mean and root mean square (rms) value. Triphase systems.
Electronic components and amplifiers. Basic elements, semiconductor diode and its uses, BJT transistor, amplifier, gain and distortion. Operational amplifiers.
Logic networks. Logic gates, boolean functions, truth tables.
