The course belongs to the characterizing activities of the MA and is held by a Professor of the Department of Political Sciences. The course belongs to the scientific field of Sociology of political phenomena. |
The course provides students with the perspective with which political sociology studies on environmental risk and aims to problematise the renewed relationship between politics, science and society with regard to established and emerging environmental issues. At the end of the course, students will: a) know the specific socio-political concepts related to the focus of the course; b) understand the correlations between socio-political change and environmental risk in contemporary Western societies; c) apply their knowledge and understanding to critically evaluate the syntheses adopted in contemporary societies between the demand for environmental protection and the political response.
At the end of the course the student, who will have actively attended and participated in the planned activities, will be able to: 2) interpret the processes of transformation of the risk in postmodern society |
The basic knowledge of political sociology is suggested. For this purpose any edition of a Handbook of Political Sociology may be used. Suggested: M. Rush, Politics and Society. An Introduction to Political Sociology, Routledge. |

The evaluation criteria consist of: coherence of the answer with the Commissioner's question, knowledge of the issues addressed, precision and appropriation of the scientific language on the subject, capacity for argumentation and autonomous reasoning, ability to summarize, effectiveness in proposing reflections of the authors treated, synergic use of the knowledge acquired from the texts and lessons. |

Non-attending students are asked to contact the teacher at least three months before the exam session they decide to take the exam.
To take the exam, foreign students (Erasmus+ program or other international programs of mobility) must contact the Professor at least two months before the exam.
