The course aims at providing a general overview of the origin and development of political parties in comparative perspective.
The aim of the course is to analyze the birth and evolution of the parties politicians in contemporary democracies through a genetic and ed organizational. Particular attention is paid to organizational change e the functions of the parties in dealing with representative institutions e adaptation processes to environmental challenges (elections, new actors politicians). At the end of the course students will be able to evaluate the role of various parties in different political regimes and the ability to innovate for reassert its legitimacy in public opinion.

1) the origin og political parties: an overview;
2) types of political parties in literature;
3) the emrgence of new political parties: neopopulist, regionalist, digital parties;
4) parties in electoral competition;
5) party families in Europe
