TEACHING MATERIALS | AULAWEB |
The course is aimed at: revising basic arithmetics and geometry contents to be taught; developing didactical competences in mathematics teaching; developing competences in planning, implementing, critically revising teaching sequences and carrying out efficient assessment strategies.
The course aims at: 1) Revising mathematical knowledge concerning arithmetics (fractions, decimal numbers) and geometry 2) Promoting the development of didactical competences concerning the teaching and learning of mathematics 3) Promoting the development of didactical competences concerning the design, implementation, analysis and assessment of teaching sequences. More specifically, the course will address: rational numbers and their representations; difficulties concerning fractions; definitions in geometry (heights of triangles, parallel lines)
The course is aimed at:
1) revising basic arithmetics and geometry contents to be taught in grades K-5; more specifically, the following themes will be addressed: rational numbers and their representations; heights of a triangle; parallelism in plane; definitions in geometry.
2) developing didactical competences in mathematics teaching (being aware of didatical issues connected with the mathematical content; being able to perform a priori analysis of the tasks)
3) developing competences in planning, implementing, critically revising teaching sequences and carrying out efficient assessment strategies.
Laboratory-style lessons (individual work on worksheets + class discussions).
Participant students are expected to attend to minimum 2/3 of the lessons, fill out the worksheet and do some homeworks.
Non participant students are expected to fill the worksheets at home.
In case the course will be carried out in DISTANCE TEACHING modality, students will receive worksheets to be filled at home and uploaded on Aulaweb. During the online lessons (twice a week, on TEAMS) worksheets will be discussed. In this way, the laboratory style of the course will be mantained even in online modality. All the online lessons will be recorded and videos will be at disposal on TEAMS.
Students are expected to attend to the online lessons (65% frequency is required) and to upload in time all the assigned worksheets (100% is required).
Also those students who cannot attend to the online lessons are expected to upload the worksheets in time.
The concept of rational number and its representations.
The concept of parallelism in plane; areas; theoretical figures and drawings; heights of a triangle; definitions in geometry.
The aforementioned contents will be treated in reference to current National Guidelines and to the related teaching and learning problems, with a focus on linguistic and representation aspects.
Worksheets and reading materials will be provided during the course on aulaweb.
Videos of the lessons will be at disposal on TEAMS.

Participant students: Individual report on the course + written exam. The written exam will consist of open-ended quesiton concerning mathematical aspects (e.g. representing a rational number on the number line) and didatical ones (e.g. analysis of an INVALSI item; analysis of an excerpt from a textbook; designing a task to address a mathematical topic).
Non participant students will receive additional questions in the written exam.
Written exam (open ended questions)
