    OVERVIEW

    1. Learning Children Literature History is very important for the education of young readers

    2. The discipline can be studied from many different points of view (pedagogical, literary, psychological,

    sociological)

    3. It is necessary to consider the impact of the new media on the youngest

    AIMS AND CONTENT

    LEARNING OUTCOMES

    The course provides both a foundation of the history of children’s literature, in its complexity as a scientific subject and also a specific focus on certain genres and themes such as traditional fairy tales, comics and cartoons. The part dedicated to the course in Scienza della Formazione Primaria will deal with the importance of transmitting a passion for reading to children, not only as a mere school exercise but as a habit to nourish throughout their school years (and beyond); the workshop, which is an integral part of the teaching, will be dedicated to the interpretation of illustrations and the integration between text and pictures.

    AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES

    For all study classes
    - knowledge of principal approaches to the Children's Literature
    - acquisition of suitable disciplinar knowledges
    - Ability to identify the specific features of different historical ages


    Primary Teacher Education

    The specific objectives for the kindergarten primarily refer to retrieval, analysis, interpretation and use of narrative sources (books, cartoon, apps, etc.) for children aged 3 to 6 years.

    The specific objectives for Primary School mainly refer to retrieval, analysis, interpretation and use of narrative sources (books, cartoon, apps, etc.) for children aged 6 to 11 years.

    TEACHING METHODS

    The lectures - except for health emergencies, etc., which provide for the activation of the e-learning mode - are conductes in presence and involving the use of multimedia devices. Attending students can be divided into small groups to undertake research aimed at achieving the training objectives of the cours. Approximately 5 or 10% of sources used in lectures well be in English.

    SYLLABUS/CONTENT

    The first part of the Course focuses on Italian authors and themes from the Nineteenth Century on; the second part’s goals are: analyzing models offered to children by books and television and authors.
