    AIMS AND CONTENT

    AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES

    At the end of the course, the student will be able to:

    • summarize the elements that constitute the basis of the geography of cultural heritage;
    • analyze and explain the importance of preserving and promoting the cultural and natural heritage to enhance the territories;
    • understand the reasons underlying an ever greater attention to the cultural and environmental heritage and its systematic cataloging;
    • discuss and describe (in written and oral form) how the enhancement, protection and promotion of cultural and environmental heritage is an articulated and complex process. 

    TEACHING METHODS

    The course consists of lectures, for a total of 36 hours (equal to 6 CFU), aimed at presenting and studying the main notions of the geography of tourism through the use of practical examples.

    The materials used during the lessons will be uploaded to AulaWeb together with other materials (reports, links to databases, etc.) aimed at defining the quantitative aspects of the phenomena studied.

    Occasionally, scholars or experts in the discipline (Italian and foreign) may also be invited to hold seminars to deepen specific aspects of the issues dealt with.

    If the epidemiological situation requires it, the teaching will be carried out remotely on Teams, according to the specifications that will be published promptly in the AulaWeb instance. 

    SYLLABUS/CONTENT

    The main topics are:

    • The determinants of cultural tourism;
    • Cultural heritage: evolution of the concept and legislation;
    • Cultural heritage in figures: the situation in Italy;
    • The importance of minor assets;
    • International assets.

    Materials uploaded to AulaWeb, supplemented by what was presented by the teacher in the classroom and appropriately summarized in the notes taken in class. In absence of comprehensive notes, students are required to use the textbook:

    EXAMS

    EXAM DESCRIPTION

    The exam is oral.
    Group work, possibly carried out by attending students, even if discussed during the course, forms an integral part of the oral exam.

     

    ASSESSMENT METHODS

    The oral exam will allow to evaluate:
    - mastery and deepening of knowledge,
    - the ability to use the skills developed.
    Evaluation criteria are:
    - the quality of the oral communication,
    - the correct use of the appropriate vocabulary,
    - the ability of critical analysis, even on possible cases discussed.

    The students who carry out the group work will also be assessed on the quality of the paper as regards the content and formal aspects.
