Under the title 'Production Systems' one can place very many different problems. This course is related with the decomposition of a planning and control problem of a production systems in different subproblems. For any of the subproblems after a analysis process, a set of solving technques will be considered. Such solving techniques have to be integrated in possible solution of the 'main' production problem.
The analysis and decomposition of complex problems into simpler ones to be integrated is one of the most (if not the only) efficient methods to approach the solution of 'large scale' problems. At the end of the course, the student will be able to understand and analyze problems underlying industrial production, from raw material management to planning and control of the actual production. On the basis of the techniques provided to solve each subproblem, a solution of the whole production problem can be set.
Basic skills of Mathematics and Operations Research
Front lessons
The course has the following structure:
1) Analysis of the different characteristics of the production systems
2) Planning and control problems for mass, on demand production
3) Stock inventory and raw material management
4) Planning and control problems: bill of materials, load balancing, scheduling, push or pull production techniques
5) Integration of the single problem solving techniques for a possible solution of the main production problem
Notes on the course provided by the teacher
S. Nahmias, "Production and Operation Analysis," McGraw Hill
Office hours: On request
MICHELE AICARDI (President)
ROBERTO SACILE
RICCARDO MINCIARDI (President Substitute)
All class schedules are posted on the EasyAcademy portal.
Oral
At the end of the course students must be able to analyze, decompose and eventually solve (at least indicating the necessary techniques) production planning issues
