The course has the aim to teach the students the causes of diseases, the damage generated by them, the inflammatory and immunitary reaction, the repair of damaged tissues and the basis of general oncology
Knowledge of origin and mechanisms at the basis of inflammatory, degenerative and neoplastic processes.
The main aim of this course is to provide the students the scientific bases to undestand the pathological processes of the tissues. The attended results are the comprehension of the mechanisms inducing diseases and the ability to coordinate the notions of the course in an organic way.

Cell pathology: main types of adaptation (atrophy and hypertropy); main types of cell damage and death (necrosis and apoptosis). Acute and chronic inflammation. Innate and acquired immunity. Repair of tissue damage. General oncology: defition and features of the tumours and neoplatic cells. Metastasis. Molecular basis of oncology (oncogenes and oncosuppressors). Aetiology of tumours.
