The course will teach how to develop applications oriented to data acquisition and instrument control in a graphical programming environment such as LabVIEW from National Instruments, which is a standard industrial tool in test and measurement and automation
The course teaches how to develop data acquisition, instrument control, data-logging, and measurement analysis applications using a standard industrial tool in test , measurement and automation such as LabVIEW.
The student will learn how to use LabVIEW to develop applications for data acquisition and instrument control. In particular, the student will be able to configure data acquisition and signal conditioning hardware, to write software which perform measurements and communicate with instruments, and to develop and modify instrument drivers. At the end of the course the student will have the opportunity to take an industrial Certification - Certified LabVIEW associate Developer (CLAD).

The course first introduces the student to the LabVIEW graphical programming language, it then describes practical examples on Data Logging and Signal Analysis in addition to different design patterns using state machine, single-, and multiple-loop, and how to design, implement, and distribute stand-alone applications.
The fundamentals of PC-based data acquisition and signal conditioning are also provided with hands-on experience installing and configuring data acquisition hardware and software functions for analog and digital input/output, triggering, signal conditioning, and synchronization

L’esame finale consiste:
- in un test scritto su LabVIEW che permetterà anche di ricevere la certificazione CLAD (Certified LabVIEW Associate Developer) di National Instruments
- nello sviluppo di un breve progetto software LabVIEW legato all’acquisizione dati e/o controllo strumentazione
- nella discussione delle esercitazioni svolte a casa
