Geographical economics is a broad field which encompasses or connects with the economics of region, cities, location, trade, development (economic, social and human), growth and the correlated political issues. Academic research in these areas has gone in many directions and made lots of progress in recent years. As a consequence, the course aims at providing an integrated introduction to geographical economics, and presenting a global analysis of issues in geographical economics using case studies from over the world, which set up to explain the distribution of economic activity across space. Given the target audience the course, after an introduction to the topic and a discussion of the antecedents of geographical economics, will explain the structure and main results of the so-called core models of geographical economics on the basis of the empirical research and evidence and the modified empirical applications of the core model.
