Basic knowledge in structural mechanics modeling for buildings: frames, plates and shells. Fundamentals in structural dynamics: linear, elasto-plastic, isolated oscillators. Simple design criteria of passive control systems for building retrofitting. Experimental modal analysis through reduced scale-modeling in the laboratory.
Face to Face and Online classes
Sub-Module 1: Structural Mechanics Modelling (Euler-Bernoulli and Timoshenko analytical beam models, Plane stress and Plane strain problems, Displacement method for frames)
Sub-Module 2: Fundamentals in Structural Plasticity (Elastic-plastic constitutive law, Failure criteria for ductile materials, Concept of Plastic collapse; Introduction to limit analysis: Static and Kinematic theorems)
Sub-Module 3: Fundamentals in structural dynamics (Linear, Elastic-Plastic, Isolated oscillators, Response spectra)
