OBIETTIVI FORMATIVI

This units aims to complete the student skills in the naval architecture field through the study of advanced topics specifically concerning the preliminary phase of the design.

MODALITA' DIDATTICHE

Combination of traditional lectures (40 hours) and classroom discussion of the project selected by each student (12 hours).

PROGRAMMA/CONTENUTO

• Definition of planing
• Resistance components of a planing craft
• Influence of the hull geometrical parameters on motion resistance
• Methods for the trim control of crafts
• Methods for the resistance prediction of a planing hull: systematic series, statistical methods, Savitsky method
• Surface piercing propellers

Oral exam.

MODALITA' DI ACCERTAMENTO

The exam will be based on questions and on the discussion of the assignment.

From the answers and the comments of the candidate it will be assessed if the student has understood the contents of the course and his capability to address some tipical problems regarding the course topics.
