Il corso tratta della galleggiabilità e della stabilità della nave, sia allo stato integro che nella condizione danneggiata, con particolare riferimento ad aspetti operativi della nave. Il tema viene sviluppato dal punto di vista teorico e applicativo. Gli aspetti trattati sono estremamente significativi per la salvaguardia della vita umana in mare e la protezione dell'ambiente marino.
The course provides knowledge about the buoyancy and the stability of ships, both in intact and damaged conditions, with appropriate reference to relevant IMO regulations. Specific attention will be given also to some operational aspects e.g. to cargo handling and stowage.
le conscenze e le competenze acquisite durante il corso permettono di:
- valutare la posizione di equilibrio e la stabilità dell'equilibrio della nave nella condizione integra o dannaeggiata;
- prevenire i pericoli derivanti dallo spostamento e dal sollevamento dei pesi a bordo, dalla deformabilità del carico liquido, dall'effetto di momenti inclinanti;-
- capire il comportamento fisico di base di una nave danneggiata;
- capire i requisiti normativi per quello che riguarda la nave allo stato integro e in falla.

Didattica frontale con lezioni in aula (è garantita la didattica a distanza);
esercizi ed applicazioni pratica durante il semestre, in aula e individuali;
discussione di gruppo su temi selezionati.
Si consigliano gli studenti lavoratori e gli studenti con certificazione di DSA, di disabilità o di altri bisogni educativi speciali di contattare il docente all’inizio del corso per concordare modalità didattiche e d’esame che, nel rispetto degli obiettivi dell’insegnamento, tengano conto delle modalità di apprendimento individuali.

Esame orale: discussione di una esercitazione preventivamente sviluppata dallo studente e domande aperte su argomenti trattati a lezione durante il semestre
l'esercitazione riguarda la soluzione pratica di problemi si galleggiabilità e stabilità allo stato integnro o in falla, simili a quelli svolti durante il semestre.
Tramite la prova scritta verranno verificate le capcità di applicare le nozioni teoriche acquisite a casi pratici, con particolare attenzione all'approccio critico nei confronti del risultato.
Durante l'orale saranno verificate le capacità di presentare le ipotesi alla base della trattazione insieme all'individuazione dei dati, la definizione degli obiettivi e lo sviluppo del ragionamento.
