The course in brief Presentation The course trains professionals with statistical, computational and mathematical skills. In fact, the conscious analysis of data and the construction of interpretive models of reality require today more than ever tools peculiar to mathematics and computer science. The acronym for the course name is SMID. Learning by doing Collection, organization, computer analysis and interpretation of data from the first year Fundamentals of mathematics for statistical analysis and modeling Courses taught by outside professionals Internships in companies, in Italy or abroad Thesis based on case studies Professional outlets The statistician is among the most in-demand jobs in the world: in biomedical, pharmaceutical, industrial, banking, insurance, for market research, land management, in statistical networks. Approximately half of graduates work right away, the other half go on to master's degrees. What you will learn statistica analisi esplorativa di dati, modellazione e previsione di fenomeni matematica fondamenti matematici per analizzare e modellare dati trattamento informatico dei dati organizzazione e gestione di data set Did you know that. First-year classes will begin Monday 23 September 2024 in room 508 on the fifth floor of DIMA/DIBRIS, Via Dodecaneso 35 Statistics in the age of data science requires good mathematical and computer skills, and the statistician is one of the most in-demand jobs in the world. The National Institute of Higher Mathematics announces scholarships for freshmen.. For the academic year 24/25, the application deadline is 20 September 2024. More information and the call for applications are available here . Dopo la laurea puoi subito lavorare o proseguire gli studi con una laurea magistrale o un master all'estero Chi vuole entrare subito nel mondo del lavoro, trova il primo impiego in media entro 3 mesi dalla laurea SMID e il DIMA organizzano eventi e conferenze per tutti Statistica, Scienza dei Dati e Big Data (documento della Società Italiana di Statistica) Contents Statistics is a classical discipline that takes on a new connotation in the age of Data Science. Mathematics and computer science are essential tools for the informed analysis of data and the construction of interpretive models of reality that are useful to decision makers. The integrated study of these three disciplines makes the degree course multidisciplinary and professional and allows for the in-depth study of classical and modern tools. The following are planned: computer-based training activities based on case studies and writing reports on the analyses carried out, which are evaluated both for the mathematical-statistical methodologies used and for mastery of expository techniques training activities designed and conducted in collaboration with experts from companies, public administration facilities and research and development laboratories a mandatory internship and a final examination often based on case studies study stays at other Italian or foreign universities to take courses, conduct the internship or the final test. Given the evolution of science and technology, training gives ample space to methodological aspects, so that graduates know: acquire and process new knowledge including through reading and understanding technical texts and articles and through interdisciplinary and group activities adapt behaviors and thought patterns according to context adapt to changes and emergencies, avoiding obsolescence of acquired skills. Coordinator Image I welcome you to the SMID Course with a quote from David Mumford, one of the great contemporary mathematicians. 'Probability and Statistics will come to be viewed as the natural tools to use in mathematical as well as scientific modeling. The intellectual world as a whole will come [...] to view statistics as the standard way in which we reason and think' (1999).
