First time at university

If you want to register for the first of the current academic year, go to the general page related to the procedure of Registration

Qualifications required for enrollment

A high school diploma of duration:

is required to enroll.

  • 5 years
  • 4 years + supplementary year
  • 4 years:
    • Master Institute valid for all courses
      . Students are assigned additional educational obligations to be carried out during the first year of the course
    • Artistic high school (II section) valid for all courses
      . Students are assigned additional educational obligations to be carried out during the first year of the course
    • Artistic high school (I section) valid for all courses only if associated with the integrative year

Regardless of secondary education qualification, anyone who is in possession of a Bachelor's degree may enroll in another degree course.

  • Graduation (3 years)
  • Previous university degree
  • Undergraduate degree (3 years)
  • School directed for special purposes (3 years)

Years after the first

Registration for years after the first is done by making payments using the online payment methods

In particular:

  • if you have applied for scholarship ALISEO for the relevant academic year, pay only the stamp duty € 16.00, without paying the first installment
  • if you have not applied for scholarship ALISEO, the first installment of €16.00 and the regional tax

A late payment of 20 euros up to 10 days late and 52 euros beyond 10 days late will be charged on payments made after the specified deadlines.

Pick up your badge

First-year matriculants will receive the Carta Ateneo+ university badge, made in collaboration with the cashier institution, Banca Popolare di Sondrio, directly to the Italian address of delivery that they indicated in the online pre-registration application.

WARNING: To verify/change residency/record data (once registration has been finalized) access the online service for students Profile

1. is issued by Banca Popolare di Sondrio starting in November and is mailed to the Italian address that has been provided
2. starts a communication to the 'student e-mail address "matricola@studenti.unige.it" of notice shipment by  ordinary mail through the service of Poste Spa
3. estimated delivery time is about 20/25 working days from the receipt of the notice

Information and contacts

We would like to remind you that the "Athenaeum+ Card" will serve as the student's identification tool within our locations and will allow them to take advantage of the services provided by the Athenaeum.
To acknowledge receipt of the badge and activate it, you must log on to Atheneopiù online student service and enter the PIN that is indicated in the "Athenaeum+ Card" transmittal letter.
The "Ateneo+ Card" can also be activated financially as a checking account or payment card directly online from the same online service.

WARNING: For students who have indicated a foreign address there is NO online badge activation procedure, it will be done at the time of delivery.

You must have the badge, copy of ID and social security number: PDF document or image/photograph.

Enrolling part-time

You can enroll part-time if you include teachings of 30 CFU or less per year in your study plan. 

You can choose the type of part-time enrollment at the same time as submission of the study plan, specifying the number of credits you intend to include in the plan.

Please note

  • student has obtained approval of study plans for all the profit examinations of his or her course of study and final examination
  • the student submits a study plan by including only the final examination and/or additional extracurricular educational activities
  • the student unconventionally distributes the CFUs provided for the degree in a number of years equal to the normal duration of the course (art. 5, 2 paragraph, of Ministerial Decree 270/2004).

Examples:

  • Example CL 1st year full-time enrollment => 70 CFU; 2nd year full-time enrollment => 80 CFU; 3rd year full-time enrollment => 30 CFU
  • Example CLM: 1st year full-time enrollment => 90 CFU; 2nd year full-time enrollment => 30 CFU

If you enroll part-time, you have to pay the stamp duty and regional tax in the same way as the first installment. With the second and third installments you will pay a percentage of university fee, as follows:

  1. study plan up to 15 credits: the university contribution is 25% of the regular amount
  2. study plan up to 30 credits: the university contribution is 50% of the ordinary amount

Iscriversi a singole attività formative

If you have the required qualification for university entrance and wish to deepen your knowledge or supplement your university curriculum, you can register for individual educational activities, attend them and take their exams. 

To enroll in one or more individual educational activities, you can apply starting July 15 at the Single Desk of the course in which the teaching is delivered by sending:

  • form available at the page Forms
  • a recent passport-size photograph with high-definition printing on high-quality paper
  • a double-sided photocopy of a valid photo ID
  • .
  • a tax payment receipt
  • .

For each individual training activity, the amounts are:

  • stamp tax €16 (to be paid only once in case of simultaneous enrollment in two or more educational activities)
  • contribution: €50 multiplied by the number of CFUs corresponding to the individual teaching.

As a general rule, enrollment in individual educational activities is not allowed within the framework of courses of study with programmed access.

Enrollment in individual educational activities for "in-depth study"

If you are enrolled in a course of study at the University, you can include extracurricular teachings in your study plan up to a maximum of 12 CFUs without paying additional fees.
For the teaching qualification or access to professions, students can include an additional 6 CFUs without paying any contribution. For any additional credits, the cost of each CFU, to be multiplied by the number of credits entered in the plan is 50%of the ordinary amount.

For graduates who, not being enrolled in a course of study, enroll in individual courses for the purpose of qualifying for teaching or access to the professions, the cost of each CFU, to be multiplied by the number of credits entered in the plan, is equal to 50% of the ordinary amount.

Enroll in individual educational activities aimed at admission to master's degree programs (so-called "bridging career")

For enrollment in individual educational activities aimed at admission to master's degree courses, up to a maximum of 40 CFUs, the student must pay only the stamp duty. The student, having acquired the CFUs by the deadline, may enroll, for the same academic year, in the master's degree course. The stamp duty amount will be considered valid for enrollment purposes. The student will be required to supplement the student contribution with the payment of any fees that may be due. The CFUs thus acquired are recognized and certified exclusively for the purpose of access to the master's degree program of this University.
A student who does not acquire all the CFUs required for enrollment in the master's degree by the established deadline or, after acquiring the CFUs, does not finalize enrollment in the master's degree, may obtain certification of the course of study completed upon payment of a university contribution calculated on the basis of the provisions of Article 15, paragraph 1, of Student Contribution Regulations.

As a rule, it is not possible to enroll in the individual educational activities of the programmed numbered study courses.

Late matriculation and enrollment

Students enrolling for the first time at the university must finalize their registration (online confirmation) by the deadlines set for the current year

After the due date, a late fee of:

  • 20 euros for the first 10 days of delay
  • 52 euros for a delay of more than 10 days

Students wishing to enroll in a programmed-numbered course must take an entrance exam.
. The deadlines for registering for the exam are mandatory and are defined in the admission notices.

Case study

The student who intends to:

  • to pursue another degree
  • .
  • resume studiesafter a period of interruption (lapsed students or not enrolled for a certain number of years)
  • apply for recognition of studies completed abroad

may request, prior to matriculation, an evaluation of previous studies (so-called case study), according to the deadlines established, by making a payment of €100 in the manner provided in the services online and filling out an application in current revenue stamp (contact the competent Student Secretariat for activation of the payment to be made).

For courses with programmed numbering, prior evaluation is not allowed and requests for recognition of studies carried out are subject to passing the relevant admission test and finalizing enrollment.

The payment of € 100, in case of enrollment, will be considered as an advance of the contribution. The contribution cannot be refunded under any title.

Second degree

Those who already have a bachelor's degree and wish to enroll in a course of study must submit documentation of their previous educational career and follow the procedure described on the page on Registration

To obtain enrollment in a course of study for which there is a programmed number, it is still necessary to first take the admission test prescribed for it and be in a useful position in the appropriate ranking.

A student may also be enrolled in years subsequent to the first on the basis of a special resolution of the Board of Studies, which proceeds to the evaluation of the university career, identifies the part of the career that is confirmed and determines the number and type of educational credits that remain to be acquired.

Resume studies

If you discontinued your studies as a result of non-enrollment, you can apply to resume them later.

In the year in which you resume your studies, you will have to pay any debit fees related to the academic years in which you were enrolled and the reconnaissance fee for the academic years in which you were not enrolled, amounting to:

  •    € 200 in the case of discontinuation for only one academic year
  •    € 100 for each academic year of interruption after the first and up to the eighth
  •    € 900 in the case of interruption beyond eight academic years.

For courses with programmed numbers, the resumption of studies is subject not only to the approval of the competent course council but also to the availability of places.

It is also possible to apply for the recognition of lapsed or renounced careers by paying the following fees:

  •    € 500 in the case of careers declared forfeited at other universities
  •    € 500 to € 800 in the case of careers declared forfeited.
