1. Read the admission criteria

The Master's Degree in Economics and Data Science (EDS) is open-access.

Admission to the Course is subject to:

  • achievement of a bachelor's degree
  • a three-year university degree
  • a four-year college degree
  • any other degree awarded abroad and recognized as suitable

Knowledge of English at least B2 level is also required. 

Did you get your degree abroad?

If you graduated abroad follow the apposite application procedure for foreign students with the support of the Welcome Office 

Candidates with a qualification obtained abroad:

  1. Must apply through the UnigeApply portal (no other application methods will be accepted), declaring: their degree grade (corresponding to at least 75% of the maximum possible grade, a mandatory requirement); their knowledge of Italian; and their knowledge of English (B2 certification);
  2. Must attend an interview to verify that they have adequate preparation for the EDS Master’s Degree Programme;
  3. Must attend an interview to verify their English language competence at at least B2 level (according to CEFR), if no valid certification is provided;
  4. Are invited to take the Italian language proficiency test organized by the University and to attend the Italian language course offered by the University.

Verification of curricular requirements

Applicants are considered to meet the curricular requirements if they:

  • have obtained a three-year degree (or other equivalent qualification) in an economics or business degree class (L-33 economics sciences; L- 18 economics and business management sciences or a corresponding degree class ex DM 509/99 or a corresponding degree class under the previous regulations).
     

    Alternatively:

  • have obtained a three-year degree (or other equivalent qualification) in another class and have at least 40 ECTS in the following fields (SSD): SECS-P/01 (ECON-01/A), SECS-P/02 (ECON-02/A), SECS-P/03 (ECON-03/A) , SECS-P/04 (STEC-01/A) , SECS-P/05 (ECON-05/A), SECS-P/06 (ECON-04/A), SECS-P/12 (STEC-01/B), SECS-P/07 (ECON-06/A), SECS-P/08 (ECON-07/A), SECS-P/09 (ECON-09/A), SECS-P/10 (ECON-08/A), SECS-P/11 (ECON-09/B), ING-IND/35 (IEGE-01/A), SECS-S/01 (STAT-01/A), SECS-S/02 (STAT-01/B), SECS-S/03 (STAT-02/A), SECS-S/04 (STAT-03/A), SECS-S/05 (STAT-03/B), SECS-S/06 (STAT-04/A), MAT/01 (MATH-01/A), MAT/02 (MATH-02/A), MAT/03 (MATH-02/B), MAT/04 (MATH-01/B), MAT/05 (MATH-03/A), MAT/06 (MATH-03/B), MAT/07 (MATH-04/A), MAT/08 (MATH-05/A), MAT/09 (MATH-06/A), INF/01 (INFO-01/A), ING-INF/05 (IINF-05/A). 

Knowledge of English at at least B2 level is also required. 
 

If you meet the curricular requirements, you may proceed to point 2. Register and pre-enrol in order to complete your registration and pre-enrolment. Otherwise, you must submit an application to have your curricular requirements assessed. 
 

How to submit the application


Assessment of the curricular requirements must be requested by filling in the dedicated curriculum requirement assessment application form and  sending it to the Student Desk at the email: valutazionedeirequisiti@economia.unige.it 
Please note: Students enrolled in the final year of a Bachelor’s degree may also submit the application for assessment of curricular requirements. The outcome of the assessment is conditional upon completion of the study plan indicated at the time of application. 
The results of the curriculum requirements assessment will be sent to you via email, usually within a month of submitting the application.

The assessment may have one of the following outcomes:

  • you meet  all the curricular requirements listed above: go to point 2. Register and pre-enrol
  • you do not meet the curricular requirements: you will be directed to the steps you need to take to recover the missing requirements. In the meantime, you may still proceed to point 2. Register and pre-enrol.  

    English language requirement

    To prove your English language proficiency (level B2), you may:

  • submit an official language certificate (IELTS, TOEFL, or an equivalent certification);
  • submit a certificate issued by the university language center (CLAT)
  • prove that you passed a university English language exam in Italy with a mark of at least 28/30.
     

If you graduated in Italy follow the steps below:

If, in your application for assessment of curricular requirements, you are unable to prove or certify knowledge of English at at least B2 level, but you believe you have adequate knowledge of English, you may attend an interview on the dates scheduled for the tests assessing adequate personal preparation.
