Every year UniGe welcomes more than 500 Erasmus+ students from over 350 partner universities. On this page you will find all useful information on the application procedure for the Erasmus+ Programme and on living and studying at the University of Genoa. Programme duration The duration of your stay varies depending on the course of study followed at your university of origin and the one you choose to attend during your stay in Genoa. The duration ranges from a minimum of 2 months to a maximum of 12 months, depending on the interinstitutional agreement signed between your university of origin and UniGe. According to Italian immigration regulations, in order to register and carry out Erasmus mobility at the University of Genoa, all incoming students with non-EU citizenship must hold a Type D visa for study mobility. Only students already in possession of a residence permitexclusively for study purposes issued by an EU country are exempt.The permit must cover the entire period of mobility and must be in card format; renewal documents or permits in paper format are not accepted. All students, including refugees, are strongly advised to contact their home university and/or the relevant Italian consulate in advance for information on the compulsory procedures. Healthcare EU citizens must carry the European Health Insurance Card issued in their country of residence. Student activities The GEG (Gruppo Erasmus Genova) is a non-profit student association, part of the Erasmus Student Network (ESN). Its aim is to promote student mobility in university exchange projects, according to the principle of "students helping other students".The GEG is run by volunteers. Italian language courses UniGe organises, with the support of the EU, Italian language courses for international students, completely free of charge.. The courses are divided into levels, according to the criteria established by the Council of Europe's Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. You can enrol directly in one of these courses by filling in the appropriate section of the application form. Extend your Erasmus+ If you wish to extend the duration of your Erasmus stay, you will need to obtain authorisation from both your home institution and the teacher responsible for the exchange at UniGe.The request for an extension must be sent at least 15 days before the end of the registered Erasmus period. The extension request must be sent to the International Mobility Office at least 15 days before the end of the registered Erasmus period..
