What is

The undergraduate examination consists of the discussion of a research thesis prepared under the guidance of a faculty advisor and subjected to critical examination by a co-rapporteur.

The final examination involves the composition of a written paper, which must consist of an in-depth study of a scientific research topic consistent with the candidate's background and the aims of the degree program. The candidate must demonstrate mastery of critical and methodological tools, familiarity with the bibliography related to the subject matter, depth of analysis, argumentative ability, mature expressive ability, as well as aptitude for philological-linguistic and literary, or historical research related to the classical world. 

To be admitted to the final examination, you must have passed the examinations of all the subjects included in your syllabus and obtained the credits related to the other educational activities stipulated by the regulations.

The first useful session for graduating in the last academic year of enrolment is June. The last useful session is that of March of the following year.

If you are an undergraduate student, you must submit your thesis title deposit form at least six months 

in advance of your chosen session for discussion.

The title entered in the form is considered provisional; the definitive title will be the one entered in the degree application.

If you need to change the title substantially, for example if you change the subject of the thesis or the thesis supervisor and/or co-rapporteur, you will have to re-file the form, with a possible resetting of the deadlines.

The form, duly completed and also signed by the lecturer, should be sent to the email address tesiarealettere@unige.it.

If you are an undergraduate student, you must submit your thesis title deposit form at least six months

The degree application is filled out online from the Student Portal  (UnigePass authentication is required), at the same time as filling out the AlmaLaurea questionnaire.

The degree application approved online by the Lecturer NOT must be handed in at the Student Desk, just as it is not necessary to hand in the receipt for completion of the AlmaLaurea questionnaire.

By the graduation application deadline, remember to:

Non-registration of examinations and other educational activities does not prevent you from completing and confirming your degree application online.

You can only make the payment of the graduation fee after confirming the online graduation application.

In order to graduate, you will instead have to check that everything is registered online.

You also need to upload the pdf file of the thesis to the dedicated portal and enter the abstract in Italian and English. The guide to uploading the thesis is available in the portal.

The compilation of the questionnaires of the evaluation of teaching is an important tool to bring out any critical issues and weaknesses of the courses of study.

If you are a regularly enrolled student, you can fill out the annual evaluation questionnaire of your course of study at the end of each academic year.

N.B. The annual evaluation is not available for students enrolled out of course.

You can apply for graduation only after you have completed the annual teaching evaluation questionnaire (unless the deadline has passed: then there is no block).
