OVERVIEW

The smart and safe logistics course provides some specialized skills on logistic and freight transport systems, with a particular focus on automated transport systems. The course is very practical and the objectives include the acquisition of skills in the use of simulation softwares. During the course, safe and security issues in logistic and transportation systems are also addressed with particular reference to the transport of dangerous goods.

AIMS AND CONTENT

LEARNING OUTCOMES

At the end of the course, the student will be able to develop and use simulation models of complex logistic systems and to test innovative solutions to make the transport of goods smarter and safer. The student will also be able to discuss the theoretical aspects of discrete event simulation, including the input data analysis and the output data analysis.

AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES

At the end of the course the student will have acquired a set of notions for the analysis and management of smart and automated logistic and transport systems. During the course the student acquires - live during the lesson - significant skills in the use of simulation softwares and other software tools.

PREREQUISITES

No specific prerequisite is required.

TEACHING METHODS

The course takes place in a classroom or in the transportation systems engineering lab. During the lessons, the professor shows slides (which are made available to the students through Aulaweb, before the lesson) on the various topics of the course and shows how to build simulation and optimization models for logistics systems (with softwares that can be used at the same time also by the students).

EXAMS

EXAM DESCRIPTION

The exam consists of a practical test with an oral discussion.

Students with learning disorders ("Disturbi Specifici di Apprendimento", DSA) will be allowed to use specific modalities and supports that will be determined on a case-by-case basis in agreement with the delegate of the Engineering courses in the Committee for the Inclusion of Students with Disabilities.

ASSESSMENT METHODS

The student's assessment is carried out through a practical test in which the student is asked to use and possibly modify some models of logistic systems. The student must demonstrate that he/she has acquired a sufficient knowledge of the topics illustrated in class and that he/she is able to use the tools for analysis and management of logistic systems.
