AIMS AND CONTENT

LEARNING OUTCOMES

The aim of the course is to provide the basic knowledge about the characteristics of maritime transport of freights and people. In particular, the course will provide the basic knowledge about ships and their life cycle, ship routes, port’s characteristics and processes. In the end, the course will introduce the main models and solutions for some freight terminal operations: berth’s allocation, route planning, freight loading/unloading, and yard management.

AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES

After the course, the student shall know and shall be able to address the problems related to the various aspects of freight and people maritime transport.

4. Port operations and berth allocation
5. Terminal container:
   • Handling systems and terminal automation
   • Port simulation 
   • Import, export, and combine cycles
6. Port-city relation

Oral exam

ASSESSMENT METHODS

Within the oral examination, the student's knowledge of the course topics and his/her capability to discuss how to address simple maritime transport problems are assessed.
