These basis allow to address more complex hydraulic problems. TEACHING METHODS Lectures and practice SYLLABUS/CONTENT Fluid definition and its properties, the continuous fluid. Pressure in fluids at rest, statics cardinal equations, Fluid statics: hydrostatic force on plane and curved surfaces. Tension state in a fluid in motion, the stress tensor. Dimensional analysis and Buckingham theorem. Description of fluid motion and the principles of fluid mechanics. The stream flows: definition and characteristics. Conservation of mass and momentum in the global form. Conservation of mass and momentum of a stream. Pipe flows. Moody diagram, minor and frictional head losses in a system. Problems with some simple systems. Ideal fluid scheme and Bernoulli's theorem. Hints of hydraulic machines.
