AIMS AND CONTENT

LEARNING OUTCOMES (FURTHER INFO)

In the theory class students will familiarize with some important areas of German linguistics as for instance sociolinguistics, pragmatics, terminology and corpus linguistics, insofar relevant for translation theory and practice. Moreover translation strategies and techniques will be presented and discussed, focusing particularly on contrastive aspects regarding German and Italian language.

SYLLABUS/CONTENT

The theory lectures (36 lessons) will be accompanied in the second term by practical exercises in translation from Italian to German and from German to Italian as well as by interpreting exercises (see programs published in Aulaweb and on the websites of the single instructors that will be announced in October 2016). All single classes will take place in the second term (February-May 2017).

EXAM DESCRIPTION

Translation Italian-German / German-Italian: written exam

Interpreting: oral exam

Theory class: oral exam

 

ASSESSMENT METHODS

The theory lessons will be concluded by an oral exam in which the arguments treated during the class will be asked about. The translation exercises will be completed by written exams and the interpreting lessons by an oral exam. During the oral exam at the end of the theory class the students have to bring forward an argument by their own choice and to provide evidence of their profound knowledge of the arguments dealt with during the lessons, of the designed texts and of the materials published in Aulaweb. Part of the exam evaluation consists in the capability to express scientific arguments adequately in German language.

FURTHER INFORMATION

The total exam consisting in theory class and language exercises is equivalent to 12 credit points (CFU)

The exam is obligatory for students in the third year of the course of studies in Theories and techniques of language mediation.

Language level B2 in German language is required for participation.

Lessons will be held in German language.

The program of the course is valid until February 2017 in accordance to the departmental regulation
