CODE 65320 ACADEMIC YEAR 2016/2017 CREDITS 12 cfu anno 3 TEORIE E TECNICHE DELLA MEDIAZIONE INTERLINGUISTICA 8741 (L-12) - SCIENTIFIC DISCIPLINARY SECTOR L-LIN/04 TEACHING LOCATION SEMESTER Annual OVERVIEW The course is composed of a theoretical module and practical exercises in interlinguistic written and oral mediation. AIMS AND CONTENT LEARNING OUTCOMES The course aims at giving students advanced knowledge and competences both in terms of tools for metalinguistic analysis and in-depth analysis of specific points, including different LSP. It is accompanied by practical language and translation courses, held by native French teachers and translators, at an advanced level. LEARNING OUTCOMES (FURTHER INFO) At the end of the course the student will be able to: - express knowledge obout linguistic variation phenomena; - recognize and interpret such phenomena in the context of French and Italian by using linguistic theory on variation; - manipulate and translate texts which present variation phenomena. TEACHING METHODS Presential lessons with Aulaweb support. SYLLABUS/CONTENT The course will deal with variation phenomena in their diatopic, diastratic, diaphasic and diamesic dimensions (therefore in a synchronic perspective) within the French speaking world. Texts (belonging to different genres and media, such as literature, comics, film, etc.) will be analysed. The theoretical module is accompanied by practical exercices in translation and interpreting. The student will have to be able to identify and analyze the phenomena that appear in a specific text, using theoretical knowledge in an appropriate way, and to translate this text into Italian. The exams concerning the practical exercises aim at testing the students’ ability in specialized and literary translation as well as in oral mediation. ASSESSMENT METHODS Theoretical module: written exam (3 hours) consisting in the analysis of variation phenomena and in the translation of a written text in French. Practical exercises: oral exams (interpreting) and written exam (translation). The inscription to the exams is compulsory and available up to 3 working days before the exam (if not otherwise specified). Students will be allowed to sit the theoretical module for the 3rd year only after succeeding in the theoretical module of the 2nd year.
