The Laboratory consists of an appropriate operational in-depth analysis of the issues concerning the teaching of contemporary Italian Literature.
The themes related to contemporary Italian literature – seen in this case as the creation of Italian collective imagination from the Unification of Italy to the present day – will be tackled with particular regard to the aspect of school environment and to the role of the school teacher (from De Amicis’ Il romanzo d'un maestro to Paola Mastrocola’s La scuola raccontata al mio cane). The laboratory, which is an integral part of the course, will build on a selection of specific texts to get to tackle, through the study of autobiographical writing, the important topic of ‘school memories’
The issues related to contemporary Italian literature, seen in this case as the shaping of “Italian imaginary” from Unification until today, will be tackled with particular emphasis on the school environment and on the role of teachers according to different writers
