OVERVIEW

The course is to know the basic concepts for analyzing geographic phenomena at different regional scales, particularly with regard to the construction process of the Ligurian territory.

AIMS AND CONTENT

LEARNING OUTCOMES (FURTHER INFO)

Students must:

1. acquire adequate knowledge and skills of effective scientific logical understanding, methods, sources and instruments of the Regional Analysis;

2. be able to apply the knowledge gained by identifying and interpreting in terms synchronic and diachronic geographical facts about the contruction of the Ligurian territory over time;

3. know to use both at the conceptual level and at the operational knowledge gained self-evaluation skills ad skills in different application contexts;

4. acquire the typical discipline technical language to communicate clearly and unambiguously with both specialist and non-specialist;

5. achieve adequate learning skills to allow to continue to independently investigate major issues of discipline, especially in the workplace in which they will operate. 

 

 

 

 

TEACHING METHODS

First and second module: front investee Lectures.

Third module: field classes (educational tours).

SYLLABUS/CONTENT

First module

The key words of the Regional Geography, methodological problems, selection and processing of library materials, Cartographic and Statistical useful for chrono-spatial regional analysis.

Second module

Liguria: geomorphological and climatic conditions, the natural environment and the protection interventions. The construction of the regiona and its landscapes over time.

Third module

Direct observation, description and interpretation of places, or Ligurian micro-areas of particular geo-historical interest, in their objective, symbolic and spiritual meanings.

 

RECOMMENDED READING/BIBLIOGRAPHY

For the first and second module the study material will be provided during the lessons.

During the third module attending students shall report about some particular aspects observed and interpreted in the course of educational outputs. For student cho have not partecipated in the fieldwork, the teacher will indicate on his personal page (web site of the Department of Languages) the replacement study material of educational tours.

In the official appeals the exam is oral. During the course of the first two modules are provided for written tests structured with open questions available only to attending students.
