Acquire the Basics and Statistical Methodology useful for identifying, understanding and interpreting biomedical phenomena and for statistical data analysis.
The variability of biological, clinical, laboratory, social and environmental data. Measurement errors. Statistical Character of Observations. Absolute frequencies, relative, percentages. Collection, organization and representation of data. Synthesis of data: central trend indices (analytical and position averages, quantiles) and dispersion indices. Calculations of probabilities: conditional probabilities and criteria of independence, principles of sum and product. Probability Distributions: Gaussian Distribution. General aspects of statistical inference: population and sample. Average and percentage confidence intervals. Statistical ratings in the classification of a diagnostic test.
All the lessons (slides / articles) will be put on the Classroom. Lessons will be provided. There is no reference text.
