Combination of traditional lectures (42 hours), scientific seminars given by invited scientist (4 hours), and classroom discussion of the scientific papers presented by each student (10 hours) , hands-on sessions in laboratory (8 hours).
• Nanoscale phenomena and quantum structures: Schrodinger equation, potential well, tunnel effect • Surfaces and interfaces: surface energy, crystallography, physical and chemical adsorption • Surface and thin film characterization techniques • Microscopy techniques: X-ray, Scanning Electron (SEM), Transmission Electron (TEM), Scanning Probe (SPM) • Single molecule force spectroscopy techniques • Synthesis and properties of nanomaterials: nanoparticles, conductive polymers, carbon nanotubes, graphene and carbon derivatives • Nanodevices for controlled drug release, for biomedical imaging, nanobiosensors
