Functional groups, classification, structure and properties of main organic compounds. Main organic reaction mechanisms: nucleophilic substitution, electrophilic addition, elimination, reactions of carbonyl/carboxyl groups, chemical reactivity of benzene. Synthetic polymers: classification, polymerisation reactions, properties. Molecules of biological interest: carbohydrates, amino acids and proteins, lipids, DNA and RNA. Complexes. Enzymology. Oxygen binding and transporting proteins: mioglobin and hemoglobin. Principle of bioenergetics. Metabolism. Glycolysis and gluconeogenesis. Ketonic bodies. Glycogen synthesis and glycogenolysis. Pentose phosphate pathway. Citric acid cycle. Oxidative phosphorylation. Lipid metabolism. Protein degradation. Urea cycle. Clinic Tests for glucose, lipid and protein metabolism.
