OVERVIEW

Appropriate posture and foot health is a crucial determinant for whole body wellness. Foot anatomical position favours traumatism, inflammatory processes, bacterial an fungine infections; moreover, chronic inflammatory, endocrine and methabolic pathologies such as for example arthritis, diabetes and obesity, severely endanger their health. The knowlwdge of pharmacological therapies of most widestread foot affections is an important skill for professional podologis.

AIMS AND CONTENT

LEARNING OUTCOMES

Students will be trained towards the employment of antiinflammatory, analgesic, anestetic, anticoagulant drugs: their indications and side effects.

LEARNING OUTCOMES (FURTHER INFO)

The course of pharmacology is aimed to form student's ability to correct use of most common drugs, focusing on those that treat foot-related pathologies. The course comprehends a first part focused on pharmacokinetid and pharmacodynamic, followed by a second part that groups drugs by cathegories. Among these, non steroidal antinflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) antinflammatory steroids, disease-modifying antireumathidc druds (DMARD), antibiotics and antifungine, will be detailed.

TEACHING METHODS

The course will be composed by frontal lessons of two hours each
