The course provides knowledge and skills concerning advanced electromagnetic systems, with reference to both their working principles and their use in different applicative fields.
Lectures.
Review and insights on electromagnetic field theory. Electromagnetic scattering and propagation in complex environments, inverse problems, imaging systems and their applications. Radiofrequency systems for detection, positioning, and navigation support. Applications of electromagnetic systems in the industrial, civil, and biomedical fields (e.g., heating, curing, sensing, etc.). Numerical methods for solving electromagnetic problems. Introduction to novel electromagnetic systems and concepts (e.g., terahertz technology, metamaterials, etc.).
