OVERVIEW

As for what regards structuring a therapeutic plan, personalized for each patient, Therapeutic Rehabilitation can avail of the so called Expressive or Art Therapies.
Between this kind of therapies, Dance Movement Therapy and Clinical Dancetherapy, promote the expression of dynamic, emotional, affective and relational aspects of the patient through his or her body.

 

AIMS AND CONTENT

LEARNING OUTCOMES (FURTHER INFO)

Knowledge of: various Dance Movement Therapy models, and, in wider terms, about it's therapeutic-rehabilitative potentials.
Knowledge of the Clinical Dancetherapy Methodology: Tools - possible and reachable goals, both in group and individually
Discovery and integration of technical and practical skills regarding emotional, sensitive and corporeal fields, acquired during the sessions of the Clinical Dancetherapy course.
Acquisition of the skill needed to decide if, and when to include Dance Movement Therapy in the rehabilitative project of a patient, establishing short, medium and long term goals.
Acquisition of the skill needed to evaluate the therapeutic results of Dance Movement Therapy, both in group and individually.

 

TEACHING METHODS

Interactive face to face lessons.
Experiential lab, along with Clinical Dancetherapy sessions.
Elaboration of the experiences, integrated with theoretical opinions in small groups.
Duration of the course: 20 hours.

 

SYLLABUS/CONTENT

Clinical Dancetherapy is a strictly non-verbal practice which focalizes and favorites, through music, Stimulating Objects and Mother Words, the emersion of spontaneous and direct actions which truly talk about the patient and the world inside him/her.
Clinical Dancetherapy works without judgement and interpretation on the process that every patient will be able to express, observing it's characteristics, and, when existing, the possible evolutions and personal growth possibilities of the patient.
Clinical Dancetherapy does not take into account aesthetic and performative areas of dancing, inviting every patient to enter or rather re enter into contact with his/her vital and creative resources, with the belief that these resources can afterwards be translated into everyday life.

What is meant for Dance Movement Therapy: background and main models.
Birth and development of Clinical Dancetherapy. Main tools and goals.
How, why and when to use Dance Movement Therapy in the planning of a rehabilitative project: the inclusion of the patient has to consider the patient's diagnosis and his/her personal attitudes.
What, and how to "observe" the included patient.
How to evaluate the therapeutic results.
Introduction of clinical cases, with the support of explanatory videos.
Personal students experience: Teacher will introduce to the class  single and specific sessions of Clinical Dancetherapy which will be conveniently analyzed afterwards in a small group.

EXAMS

EXAM DESCRIPTION

Student will be making a Final Relation where, in not more than three folders, he/she will be focusing on those theoretical and experiential aspects which he/she found more interesting, in the attempt to integrate what was learnt with his/her point of view.
The actual exam will be in oral form, and will be developed around the Final Relation, along with questions to verify the effective learning of the theoretical aspects.
What the student wants to share regarding his personal experience lived through the Clinical Dancetherapy sessions will be pleasurably listened to.

 

ASSESSMENT METHODS

The grade will be given in a score that goes up to 30.
The grade will keep count of the student ability to integrate theoretical concepts with personal considerations on his/her experience throughout the Clinical Dancetherapy sessions.
