Acquisition of the rudiments of Odontostomatology

At the end of the course the student must:

• know the rudiments of dental anatomy, deciduous and permanent teeth and the main disease of the oral cavity
• know the main types of therapy and rehabilitations performes by dentists
• be able to refer patients to the dentist when necessary
• be able to identify relative and absolute contraindications to oral surgery
• know the relationship between systemic diseases and the oral cavity
• Local and systemic contraindications to oral surgery

• Rudiments of dental anatomy
• Deciduous and permanent teeth
• Main teeth malformations
• Anatomical limits in oral surgery
• Principles of restorative dentistry, oral surgery, implantology and prosthodontics
• Classification of the various types of prostheses
• Rudiments of the etiology, pathogenesis and therapy of dental caries and periodontitis
• Relationship between systemic diseases and the oral cavity
• Local and systemic contraindications to oral surgery

Written exam with multiple choice questions and interview 

ASSESSMENT METHODS

Details of the preparation for the exam and of the level of in-depth study will be given during the lessons.

The interview will mainly regard the topics dealt with during the lessons and will evaluate not only the degree of knowledge but also if the student is able to critically analyze clinical problems that may be presented during the exam.

The student will have to demonstrate to have the capacity to clearly describe odontostomatologic diseases and therapies using the proper terminology.

Exam schedule
