Knowing in detail the essential steps of neonatal assistance in the delivery room. The student will know how to make a full physical examination and be able to differentiate the clinical and therapeutic choices based on gestational age.
To provide knowledge on chronic metabolic and endocrine diseases, diabetes, skeletal and respiratory diseases including cystic fibrosis as well as other pediatric conditions including hemato-oncologic conditions, kidney diseases ….
To provide adequate details on the clinical aspects, diagnosis and treatment of major congenital, genetic, hereditary and acquired diseases in the pediatric age
In particular information on the pathophysiology of growth in children, pubertal development and the differential diagnosis of systemic diseases that impair growth will be provided. The work-up of neonatal screening will be discussed .
The student shall know the characteristics of the major rheumatic and auto-inflammatory diseases of the evolutionary age (juvenile idiopathic arthritis, acute joint rheumatism, Kawasaki vasculitis, Schoenlein-Henoch disease).
Prevention of Diseases: Primary, secondary and tertiary prevention; Health education; Prevention of disabilities Prevention of accidents and poisoning. Principles and typology of prenatal, neonatal and postnatal screening Pediatric Emergency Principles (Shock Management, Heart Failure, Seizures, etc.).
Neonatal problems: Clinical examination of the infant. Characteristics of preterm and small for the gestational age infant . Healthy and pathologic newborn care in the delivery room. Natural and artificial feeding of the infant. Main consequences of perinatal pathologies (major maternal diseases with fetus and infant consequences, perinatal suffering, maternal-fetal infections, sensory sequences). Major Neonatal Pathologies: Respiratory Distress Syndrome, Perinatal Infections, Neonatal jaundices, Hypossic-Ischemic Encephalopathy. Major congenital cardiopathies (Congenital heart failure - Fallot, large artery transfections, atrial and ventricular defect, Botallo ductility, aortic coarctation - supraventricular and ventricular tachyarrhythmias).
Growth and Development: harmonic and disarmonic growth abnormalities, hypopituitarism and hypothyroidism. Premature and late puberty, adrenogenital syndrome.
Pediatric Diseases: The child with recurrent infections and respiratory diseases (pharyngotonsillitis, laryngotracheo-bronchitis, bronchial asthma, pneumonia, cystic fibrosis). The child with vomiting and diarrhea (gastro-esophageal reflux, acute diarrhea, celiac disease, food allergies, chronic inflammatory bowel disease). Diabetes in pediatric age; Indicate therapeutic measures in the onset phase, in acute and chronic manifestations. Identify and illustrate the preventive and social aspects of diabetes in pediatric age. Describe and classify the congenital metabolic diseases found in pediatric age (general principles, phenylketonuria). Describe the evolutive characteristics of osteoarticular diseases and inflammatory diseases (juvenile rheumatoid arthritis, acute joint rheumatism, Kawasaki vasculitis, Schoenlein-Henoch disease. Anemic and / or hemorrhagic (anemia, anemia, anemia Sideropenia, hemolytic anemia, acute lymphatic leukemia, thrombocytopenia, hemophilia). Knowledge of the elements that allow to classify a hematuria (acute postinfective glomerulonephritis, details of other glomerulopathies, urinary tract infections, reflux nephropathy).
