THE HEART AND THE VASCULAR SYSTEM: STRUCTURAL AND FUNCTIONAL ANATOMY
The aim of the course is the comprehension of architecture and anatomical morphology of organs, systems and apparatus and the functional meaning of their overall organization in the human body. A good knowledge of topographical anatomy and macroscopic and microscopic morphological characteristics of the most interesting apparatus is appreciate.
In detail, they are expected to know the essential morphological characteristics of the organs and tissues that belong to the cardiovascular system..
Teaching is divided into 20 hours of training activities, of which 16 hours of theoretical frontal teaching.
At the end of the frontal lessons there is an exercise on the dissection of the pork heart (4 hours).
Topographic anatomy: general organization of the human body; body surface; cavities; chest; abdomen; neck; head; arts.
Cardio-circulatory system: generality. Arteries; veins; microcirculation; Pulmonary circulation and systemic circulation; Arteries and veins of great circulation; Fetal circulation elements. The blood. The heart, detailed description of the heart muscle, fibrous skeleton, organization of heart muscle and cardiac valves system. Heart cycle. Cardiac conduction system.

The final exam is oral with a maximum score of 30.
The level of knowledge will be evaluated with a final exam. In such an exame students are required to demonstrate their actual acquisition of expected learning outcomes. The minimum score of the exam is 18/30.
Students must demonstrate:
. Knowledge of the architecture and anatomical morphology of organs, systems and apparatus and the functional meaning of their overall organization in the human body.
- Knowledge of the topographic anatomy and the macroscopic and microscopic morphological characteristics of the most important apparatus.
. In detail, they are expected to know the essential morphological characteristics of the organs and tissues that belong to the cardiovascular system.
The final score will evaluate:
- Ability to analise transversely and critically the arguments required;
- Clarity, synthesis and fluidity will be particularly appreciated;
- The proper use of terminology is essential.
