OVERVIEW

The General Pathology is a multidisciplinary science relating  to human health: how and why it happens the health disturbance, it includes the molecular and cellular mechanisms that underlie the disease, ie etiopathogenesis .

AIMS AND CONTENT

LEARNING OUTCOMES (FURTHER INFO)

The course aims to train experts in the field of cardiovascular pathophysiology and cardiovascular perfusion. The course aims to provide a specific basis for basic materials needed for the student's education. The student will learn the fundamental skills necessary for the understanding of the biological basis of disease. Through the knowledge of General Pathology, essential for the understanding of the interventions not only therapeutic but also preventive.

 

TEACHING METHODS

Frontal lectures
The course consists of 10 hours of training activities, lectures on the topics of the program. It is required at least 75% of the hours of frontal lectures.

SYLLABUS/CONTENT

 1. CELLULAR PATHOLOGY: pathogenesis of atherosclerosis
2. PROCESS OF DEFENSE:
Inflammation:
Phases, classification main types of acute inflammation, inflammation interstitial and granulomatous


3. CANCER
      Metaplasia, dysplasia, anaplasia
      Classification and malignant characters
      staging systems and gradation
      chemical carcinogenesis, physical and biological
      Metabolism and activation of carcinogens
      Initiation, promotion, progression
      Invasiveness and metastasis
      Oncogenes and tumor suppressor
      Outline of tumor markers

ASSESSMENT METHODS

 

The assessment takes place only through the final exam which aims to ensure the effective acquisition by the student of the expected learning outcomes.

In order to pass the exam (vote of not less than 18/30) the student must demonstrate that:

- Know the principal topics

- Be able to reason by connecting the various topics,

- Demonstrate ability to transverse and critically deal with the required arguments;

- Adoption of appropriate terminology
