AIMS AND CONTENT

LEARNING OUTCOMES

The course aims at deeply investigating some fundamental industrial chemicals processes, in order to optimize the economicity and the yield of raw materials from the environmental point of view, etc., using the principles of thermodynamics, kinetics and  the plant engineering, previously acquired.

SYLLABUS/CONTENT

The course will be developed by examining the petroleum industry and its principle working processes, the carbon industry and its subsidiary industries and some relevant organic and inorganic syntheses of industrial interest (methanol, formaldehyde,  phenol, maleic anhydride, phthalic anhydride, terephthalic acid, cyclohexanol, cyclohexanone, caprolactam). Aspects of thermodynamics, kinetics, catalytic, technological processes and environmental impact will be discussed.

ASSESSMENT METHODS

The oral examination is conducted by two professors. They are able to verify the achievement of the learning outcomes. When these are not met, the student is invited to extend the study. To ensure uniformity between the examination topics and those actually carried out during the course, is present into the AulaWeb page a detailed program, so that students themselves can verify adherence.
