The aim of the course is to frame some pedagogical and cultural issues related to secondary education, linking them to the current development of teaching and technological aids, and to involve students in the preparation (and possible experimentation) of some teaching materials.
The main aim is to focus on some fundamental issues related to the main mathematical areas faced in secondary education and their linkage to the cultural and pedagogical choices a teacher has to face in setting up and developing his didactic activity
After addressing these issues (including examining projects for teaching and behavior and materials produced by pupils), we will focus on teaching objectives through organizing and implementing some simple educational proposals
The course will intersect exhibit phases and workgroup times. We will put on the net notes, bibliographical references, documentation or suggestions of didactic activities, links to sites, ... also in relation to some specific insights that will be developed taking into account the cultural and educational interests (and the curriculum) of those who will attend the course.
With references to epistemological and historical issues, the relationships between some fields of the mathematics (numerical and algebraic structures, mathematization of the space, algorithms, mathematical analysis, probability), and the problem of setting up their teaching in our days, are discussed: comparison between various ways to introduce and to formalize the concepts, location of "unifying" or “synergical” didactical itineraries, role of computers, relationships between "experiential", "constructive" and "deductive" aspects, relationships with other strongly mathematizated disciplines, etc.
Materials and references available from the network will be provided
CARLO EUGENIO DAPUETO (President)
ELDA GUALA
FRANCESCA MORSELLI
The class will start according to the academic calendar.
ELEMENTARY MATHEMATICS FROM AN ADVANCED STANDPOINT
Written verification and oral examination (starting from workshops developed by students).
The assessment of the written tests will be accompanied by the evaluation of the didactic proposals that the students will present in seminar form
