The Laboratory focuses on the design, implementation and analysis of teaching sequences for the teaching and learning of probability and algebra
To present theoretical tools, coming from research in mathematics education, aimed at framing the development of mathematical competences for secondary school, as outlined in National Guidelines.
To promote the development of competences in the design and implementation of teaching and learning activities.
To promote the development of competences in the analysis of teaching and learning processes.
Laboratory-style sessions, organized around individual work on worksheets and class discussions
The Laboratory focuses on two types of teaching and learning activities:
a)first approach and development of probabilistic thinking, as required by the national guidelines, also in connection with statistics and mathematical modeling.
The course will focus on the teaching and learning of statistics and probability, taking into account didactical, historical and epistemological issues.
This part will be taught by prof Guala (3 CFU, 24 hours)
b)first approach and development of algebraic thinking, and its use for problem solving and proving in geometry, in elementary number theory, mathematical modeling. A special attention will be paid to the link between algebraic and natural language in argumentation.
The course will focus on the design, implementation and analysis of teaching and learning activities addressing the first approach to algebra.
This part will be taught by prof Morselli (2 CFU, 16 hours)
