OVERVIEW

The course is aimed at students who wish to learn the basic concepts concerning the assessment of the energy needs of buildings, their environmental impact and their coverage with renewable sources. Particular attention is paid to existing buildings refurbishment where the energy requalification activity must be compared with architectural, historical, urban and structural aspects, often limiting the free design of insulation, efficient systems and integration with renewable sources.

AIMS AND CONTENT

AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES

The course provides the knowledge base for the assessment of energy requirements and the pre -dimensionig of air conditioning systems and their integration with renewable sources. It Analyzes technical and legislative regulations at national and regional level in relation to energy efficiency. It Introduces the operating principles of solar systems (thermal and photovoltaic)

PREREQUISITES

SYLLABUS/CONTENT

Part 1 envelope energy needs
The first module will identify the thermal and electrical requirements for heating, cooling, lighting and production of domestic hot water in residential, commercial or office buildings. By means of finite element software, with the use of the computer room, the typical Italian buildings thermal bridges are analyzed and their influence on the contribution to thermal dispersions and condensation formation is evaluated. Numerical exercises and tests will be carried out with a practical exercise through the use of a thermal imaging camera and the aid of thermographic pictograms. The possible envelope improvements will be identified with particular attention to the building renovation of existing buildings.
Part 2 Plants and renewables
The second module will analyze the current types of generation systems for heating and cooling, using traditional boilers, condensing heat pumps. The yields of the various plants will be analyzed and in particular the integration that can be offered by the main renewable sources: solar thermal, solar photovoltaic, geothermal, wind, cogeneration.
Part 3 Energy certification and diagnosis regulation
In the third module the calculation evaluations indicated by the technical standard UNI 11300 parts 1 to 6 will be exposed for the evaluation of the primary energy requirements for the different energy services of the buildings. The calculation process will be carried out using the Regional Celeste 3 software with the use of the computer room. The economic convenience indicators set by Legislative Decree 102 and related technical standard UNI 15459 will be analyzed. An energy performance certification of a residential or office building is developed.

EXAMS

EXAM DESCRIPTION

The Environmental Energetics course exam consists of an oral test that can be sustained in the official appeals established on calendar exams , by the students who have passed the examinations considered preliminary and who have completed the questionnaire for the survey of the teaching quality (teaching code 91052) .

ASSESSMENT METHODS

The oral exam is preceded by an individual project to be developed during the exercises hours in classroom, which aims to verify the existence of a level of preparation suitable for solving numerical problems related to the course and that gives the possibility of access to oral. This document must be approved before being able to access the oral
