CODE 90682 ACADEMIC YEAR 2017/2018 CREDITS 6 cfu anno 3 INGEGNERIA CHIMICA 8714 (L-9) - SCIENTIFIC DISCIPLINARY SECTOR ICAR/08 TEACHING LOCATION SEMESTER 1° Semester OVERVIEW The course deals with the fundamentals of structural mechanics and related solution tecniques for the design of beams, frames and trusses. AIMS AND CONTENT LEARNING OUTCOMES The aim of the course is to supply the fundamentals to analyze the mechanical behavior of beams, frames and trusses as basis for their structural design under the elastic regime. AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES The aim of the course is to supply the fundamentals of the structural mechanics to analyze the internal forces, deformations and displacements in beams, frames and trusses due to arbitrary loads and of the mechanics of a three‐dimensional deformable medium in the linear field to employ in structural design applications. Other special skills in communication and learning ability are increased thanks to the solution and discussion of problems together with the teacher during lectures. TEACHING METHODS The course consists of 60 hours of lecture, which alternate theoretical concepts with applicative examples. SYLLABUS/CONTENT Kinematic and statics of systems of constrained connected rigid plane beams. Internal forces, deformation and displacements in beams structures. Linear elastic problem for the plane beam. Force solution method for statically indeterminate beam structures. The Cauchy continuum. Static and kinematic problems, linear elastic constitutive model and elastic limit for deformable solids. The De Saint Venant problem and fundamental resultant loadings (normal force, bending moment and shear force). Strength verifications. Stability of equilibrium for beams.
