The first part of the course is an in-depth study of themes and genres in Latin literature from Early Middle Ages to the 15th century. This part of the course will also present the way texts were transmitted, from Ancient Age to now. The second part of the course focuses on the different types of historiographic production during Middle Ages and Humanism, and on the profile of the main authors of historiographic works.
Being able to outline the main features of historiography and Latin literature of Middle Ages and Humanism, thus focusing on literary genres, on authors and on the analysis of texts in Latin written between the 6th and the 15th centuries.

Oral exam
The exam is meant to assess students' knowledge of the contents of the course, their ability to make connections between different topics and their ability to make interdisciplinary connections. Students' command of specific terminology will also be assessed.
