AIMS AND CONTENT LEARNING OUTCOMES Individual study using grammar websites in order to allow students to acquire and improve basic language skills and express themselves in authentic English. TEACHING METHODS This English course is aimed at false beginner/pre-intermediate level (A2-B1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages). Work in the classroom will be conducted individually using specific websites, with input from the teacher coaching students one-to-one so as to deal with their specific problems. SYLLABUS/CONTENT The laboratory is aimed at providing students with as broad and complete a base as possible. Exercises are carried out to strengthen the main language skills. The goals are to enable the student to gain and consolidate a working knowledge of English and to ensure that they are ready to tackle the Lingua Inglese (66937) exam. RECOMMENDED READING/BIBLIOGRAPHY There is no set text as this laboratory entails the use of language websites. However, false beginners and others with particular problems in English are advised to purchase the following book of grammar rules and exercises: Raymond Murphy, “Essential Grammar in Use”, Cambridge University Press (available online – e.g. Amazon.it – or at the faculty bookshop).
