This course is meant for students who wish to be active in the field of cultural production, taken broadly, with the goal to reestablish an awareness of the ways in which cultural artefacts are made and preserved specifically in reference to their treatment in museums and cultural institutes.
To provide students with the methods, analytical tools and essential knowledge to understand dynamic and appropriate management of private and/or public museums and cultural institutes. The methods take into account the current constantly evolving state of the management systems at cultural institutes, the ever growing complexity of the regulatory framework, the reaffirmed centrality of cultural initiatives such as promotion and the development of community life.
In-class lectures with visual aids such as PowerPoint plus in-class discussion.
The course consists of an introduction meant to clarify terms, plus four modules based on four different but closely interrelated themes.
