Firstly, are presented established theoretical models explaining the behavior of the variables and of the subjects of political economy. Then are proposed the implications, also of theoretical nature, wich can be derived from most recent processes of globalization. The examination focuses on the peculiarities of European Union institutions, paying specific attention to the comparative aspects of the monetary policy of European Central Bank Content A. Institutional Course 1.Concepts, importance and problems of international trade. Absolute and comparative advantages 2.Gains and losses related to trade in the specific factors model 3.Assumptions, peculiarities and heuristic value of the Heckscher- Ohlin model 4.The international mobility of labor and capital 5.Increasing returns of scale and imperfect competition 6.Duties and import quotas under perfect competition. The GATT-WTO. The international trade agreements 7.Process of European integration 8.Governance of the European Union B. Monographic Course The monetary policy of European Central Bank and its comparison with the monetary policies of other Central Banks TEACHING METHODS Frontal lessons and seminars SYLLABUS/CONTENT The course aims to provide the essentials for understanding the peculiarities that characterize the international economy. Firstly, are presented established theoretical models explaining the behavior of the variables and of the subjects of political economy. Then are proposed the implications, also of theoretical nature, wich can be derived from most recent processes of globalization. The examination focuses on the institutions of the European Union, and finally on the actions of political and economic importance which are implemented.
