The course intends to provide basic knowledge about the functioning of cells and its molecular mechanisms. These notions are propaedeutic to the understanding of the interactions between cells and drugs or other physical and chemical agents endowed with biological activity, i.e. able to modify the cell functional status.
Providing basic knowledge about the mechanisms governing cell functions, and in addition giving the ability of analyzing questions, solving problems and illustrating the topics of the syllabus.
Class lessons and teaching materials on the University’s AulaWeb platform.
The cell: general features. Signal molecules and membrane receptors.Signal transduction: G proteins, phosphorylation cascade, eicosanoids. Intracellular calcium: homeostasis and calcium signaling, analysis techniques.
