SYLLABUS/CONTENT

The course, which is divided into two parts, each of 18 hours, deepens the knowledge already acquired during European Union Law, and during International Law.

In particular, topics addressed will be:

Part 1: Family under the focal lense of liberties and fundamental freedoms (I. Queirolo)

During this part, the subject of studies will be the evolution of the European policy in family law - direct and indrect interventions, as well as the relevant domestic and European case law will be taken into consideration.

In particular, topics addressed will be: i) techniques and legal bases adopted by the Union in family matters; ii) free movement of EU and non-EU nationals and right to family reunification; iii) fundamental family rights between EU law and the European Convention on fundamental rights and freedoms.

Part 2: Family and private international law (F. Pesce)

During this part, the subject of studies will be private international law aspects in family matters in EU as well in domestic law. In particular, topics addressed will be: i) dissolution of marriage; ii) parental responsibility; iii) maintenance.

Oral examination. Only students attending 2/3 of classes will have the possibility to take two written tests, each at the end of one part of the course.
