The immune system plays a fundamental role in the defense from pathogens and in the surveillance against cancer. Alterations of the immune response may cause disease. The manipulation of the immune system is one of the most promising approaches to fight metastatic tumors. Cancer is one of leading causes of death. It arises through genetic or epigenetic alterations. The knowledge of these genetic alterations has greatly influenced diagnosis, prognosis and therapy of cancer.
